We have to be more ruthless

Eintracht Frankfurt are in the quarter finals of the Europa League! Even though Frankfurt’s comfortable 4-1 victory over Ajax Amsterdam was a good reaction after the loss against Union Berlin last weekend, sporting director Markus Krösche still sees room for improvment.

Frankfurt easily defeated Ajax Amsterdam (6-2 after two legs) to go into the next round of the Europa Leage, where they will either play against AZ Alkmaar or Tottenham for a ticket to the semi finals.

Sporting director Markus Krösche however, sees room for improvment:

“We have to close the game in the 1st half, be more ruthless and score more goals. That has been our biggest problem in the last few weeks.”

Frankfurt were the far better side against Ajax, who seemingly had no chance against Dino Toppmöller’s side. While a 2-0 advantage at halftime is good, it needs to be even better according to Krösche:

“We learned a tough lesson against Union Berlin last weekend, where we didn’t finish the game off early, which cost us in the end – we have to learn from those mistakes.”

Mario Götze was an important figure in the 4-1 victory over Ajax, scoring twice; Krösche praised him accordingly:

“Mario played a crucial role, as did Hugo [Ekitiké]. I hope we show a similar performance against Bochum on Sunday.”

Whoever should be next up for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa Leage, the side proved against Ajax that they’re able to beat anyone on a good day.
